Rejuran for skin quality. Juvelook for collagen + structure.

Both are KFDA-approved injectable skin boosters used in Korean dermatology. Rejuran uses polynucleotides (salmon DNA fragments) to trigger regeneration — best for skin quality, hydration, and post-procedure healing. Juvelook combines polynucleotides with PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) microspheres — adds collagen-stimulating structural support on top of the regenerative effect. Choose Rejuran if your goal is glow and skin quality; choose Juvelook if you want mild collagen-based volumizing alongside glow. Many JRYN patients use both — Rejuran first to establish skin quality, Juvelook 2–3 months later for added structure. Pricing differs ~20%; protocol structure is similar (3-session series spaced 2–4 weeks).

Mechanism comparison

How each actually works.

01

Rejuran · Polynucleotide regeneration

Polynucleotides from salmon DNA trigger cellular regeneration — fibroblast activity, collagen production, blood vessel formation. Skin from within, no added material structure. Pure regenerative mechanism.

Best for Skin quality, hydration, post-procedure healing
02

Juvelook · Hybrid PLLA + polynucleotide

Adds PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) microspheres alongside polynucleotides. PLLA gradually dissolves over 6 months, stimulating sustained collagen formation around microsphere sites. Structural collagen building.

Best for Mild volume restoration + glow
03

Procedure differences

Both are micro-injection across face. Both 30-minute appointments. Juvelook may produce slightly more noticeable papule bumps initially due to microsphere component. Both fully resolve in 24–48 hours.

Procedure Similar — 30 min, mild discomfort with numbing
04

Result timeline

Rejuran: peaks 4–8 weeks post-final session, holds 6 months. Juvelook: peaks 8–12 weeks post-final session, holds 9–12 months due to PLLA-stimulated collagen. Juvelook builds slower but lasts longer.

Duration Rejuran 6 mo · Juvelook 9–12 mo
05

Side effect profile

Rejuran: redness, mild papule bumps for 24h, no rare side effects. Juvelook: redness, papule bumps slightly more pronounced for 48h, very rare nodule formation if injected too superficially (technique-dependent).

Risk Rejuran lower risk · Juvelook needs technique
06

Maintenance schedule

Rejuran: maintenance every 4–6 months. Juvelook: maintenance every 9–12 months (longer hold from PLLA collagen effect). Juvelook costs ~20% more per session but you maintain less often.

Math Annual cost similar after maintenance schedule
Match treatment to goal

Choose by what you want.

Pure glow, skin quality

→ Rejuran. Lower cost, faster results, simpler protocol. The classic K-beauty glow injection.

🏗

Glow + mild collagen volumizing

→ Juvelook. Best for cheek/midface that lost mild volume. Builds collagen under the skin over 6 months.

🩹

Post-laser or post-procedure healing

→ Rejuran. Pure regenerative effect. Doesn't add material that complicates already-stressed skin.

💧

Severely dehydrated skin

→ Rejuran first, then Juvelook later. Establish hydration baseline with Rejuran's regenerative effect; add structural support with Juvelook 2–3 months later.

👵

Early-aging signs (35–45 yo)

→ Juvelook is often a better long-term investment due to longer collagen-building window. Or sequential Rejuran → Juvelook.

🌟

Combination with HIFU or laser

→ Rejuran during healing window; Juvelook 6+ weeks after device-based treatments are fully recovered. Different timing, different roles.

Brand profiles

What you're actually buying.

Rejuran (Pharma Research Bio)

Originated 2014. Strongest clinical data among polynucleotide injectables. Multiple variants (Healer, S, I) for different concerns. JRYN's default polynucleotide booster for new patients.

Juvelook (VAIM Global)

Korean-developed combination injectable. Polynucleotide + PLLA microspheres. KFDA-approved. Newer than Rejuran but with strong clinical evidence since 2021.

Rejuran variants at JRYN

Healer (face general), S (acne scar focus), I (under-eye specific). Selected based on consultation findings rather than default pick. Different prices.

Juvelook variants at JRYN

Standard Juvelook (face general) and Juvelook Volume (mild contour-focused, more PLLA content). Volume version costs more, used sparingly for specific midface volume concerns.

Which one for you

Decision framework.

Choose Rejuran if you

  • Want pure glow / skin quality improvement
  • Are recovering from prior aggressive procedures
  • Have dehydrated, sensitized, or barrier-compromised skin
  • Want a faster-emerging result (4–8 weeks)
  • Are budget-conscious (~20% less per session)

Choose Juvelook if you

  • Want mild collagen-based volumizing alongside glow
  • Have early signs of structural aging (35–45 typically)
  • Want longer-duration results (9–12 months hold vs 6)
  • Are willing to wait 8–12 weeks for peak results
  • Plan less frequent maintenance

Use both sequentially if you

  • Want comprehensive skin quality + structural improvement
  • Have multiple goals across glow, hydration, and mild volume
  • Can plan a 6-month treatment timeline
  • Are returning JRYN patient ready for a more complete protocol
  • Want to maximize K-beauty regenerative benefits
Post-injection differences

Recovery side-by-side.

First 24 hours · Rejuran

Mild redness, small papule bumps fully resolve within 24 hours. Ice pack as needed. Gentle skincare only. Same-day flight OK.

First 48 hours · Juvelook

Slightly more pronounced papule bumps for 24–48 hours due to microsphere component. Ice pack, avoid massage of treatment areas. Same-day flight OK but visible bumps may need a day.

Sun protection · both

Strict SPF 50+ for 2 weeks. Newly stimulated skin is photosensitive regardless of which booster. Hat for first 5 days when possible.

Long-term care

Both compatible with normal skincare routine after first week. Avoid aggressive resurfacing (chemical peels, ablative laser) for 4 weeks post-injection. Mild treatments (HIFU, light laser) can resume after 2–3 weeks.

Frequently asked

FAQ · Juvelook vs Rejuran
questions.

Which one should I get first if I've never had either?
Most JRYN patients start with Rejuran for first booster experience — lower cost, faster results, simpler side effect profile. After completing the 3-session Rejuran series and seeing how your skin responds, you can decide whether to add Juvelook later for collagen-structural benefit. Sequential use captures benefits of both.
Can I switch from one to the other mid-series?
Not recommended. Complete the 3-session series of whichever you started, then evaluate. Mid-series switching disrupts the protocol logic and can reduce overall efficacy. If you want to try the other later, plan a fresh 3-session series 2–3 months after finishing the first.
Are they FDA-approved in the US?
Both are KFDA-approved in Korea. Neither has FDA approval in the US for cosmetic injection. Some US clinics use them off-label or under research. Korean clinics like JRYN have years of routine clinical use, while US adoption is constrained by regulatory pathway.
Why does Juvelook cost more?
Juvelook contains PLLA microspheres in addition to polynucleotides. The PLLA component adds material cost and provides longer-lasting collagen-building benefit. Higher cost per session but longer maintenance interval — annual cost works out similar after factoring in maintenance frequency.
Can I combine them in one session?
Generally not done. The mechanisms are different enough that mixing doesn't compound benefits cleanly. JRYN's preferred approach: complete a Rejuran series first, then start Juvelook 2–3 months later if needed. Sequential rather than combined.
Are there allergy concerns?
Both KFDA-approved with strong safety records. Rejuran uses salmon-derived polynucleotides — extremely rare salmon allergy is theoretically possible. Juvelook uses similar polynucleotides plus PLLA (also used in Sculptra) — PLLA allergy is very rare. Both screened at consultation.
How does cost compare across a year of treatment?
Rejuran: 3-session initial series ~$840 + maintenance every 4–6 months = ~$1,400–$1,700/year. Juvelook: 3-session initial series ~$1,020 + maintenance every 9–12 months = ~$1,400–$2,000/year. Roughly comparable annual cost depending on maintenance schedule.
Which one for first-time foreign patient?
Rejuran — lower entry cost, simpler protocol, established clinical track record. Once your skin responds well and you understand how it feels, evaluating Juvelook for the next trip becomes informed. JRYN's recommendation for most new foreign patients: start with Rejuran.
Do they work for men?
Yes — both work for men and women. Male skin tends to be slightly thicker, sometimes requiring slight protocol adjustment. Increasingly popular among male Korean patients in their 30s–50s. JRYN treats male patients with both regularly.
How do I decide between them at consultation?
JRYN's consultation evaluates: your specific skin concerns (quality vs structure), aging stage, recent procedures, budget, and visit frequency to Busan. We recommend one (or both sequentially) based on findings, not based on what we want to sell. WhatsApp +82-10-3951-7576 to book a consultation.
